"The European Day of Languages" etwinning
project (2017)
This year, we participated in a project in which children from other
European countries’ schools send each other cards in order to celebrate
language diversity. We communicated with them and talked to them about our lives while celebrating
our diverse identities.
In this project, children also learn some things about
various languages. People celebrate it the 26th
of September because we want children to learn new languages and to know more
people around the world.
It is an exchange through
homemade postcards sent by post from a school to another in Europe, allowing
the “special” discovery of other languages!
We think that this project is very interesting and that we can learn many
things about other countries.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 7
THE EXPLOSIVE MOBILE
We're well over a month into the saga of the Galaxy Note 7 recall, and events have taken many different twists and turns since the beginning of September. The crux of the situation is that Samsung faced a serious issue with Galaxy Note 7 phones that have a high propensity of batteries failing, leading to personal and property damage. In the original, pre-recall Note 7, hundreds of phones worldwide have had critical failures.
The phone was recalled officially in the U.S. once, and Samsung launched exchange programs in other countries. But the new models continued to see further issues, with replacement catching on fire in early October. This led to Samsung telling Note 7 owners to stop using the phones and return them, before permanently discontinuing the Note 7. Shortly thereafter, the U.S. CPSC officially issued a second recall.

BOOSTING LANGUAGE SKILL (by Nagore and Amaia)
In this project, second of Bachillerato students meet many people from several countries so they can speak and communicate
with them. The students upload videos and photos so others see them and comment on their photos and give feedback on videos and presentations.
Doing this they relate to other people and are able to communicate with the children and a so with the teachers through a chat or skype videoconference sessions in skype.
We think that this is an interesting project because students learn about other countries through comments, photos, videos and they share
and discuss their opinions,
dreams and expectations about life.

Halloween is a
date celebrated on the night of October 31st. Celebration is most practiced in
the United States of America
and Canada.
Children wear costumes and they go to peoples' homes saying "Trick or
treat!" to ask for candy or sweets in the United Kingdom and then people give
it to them. This practice originally involved a threat. A threat is when
someone says that they will do something bad if they do not get what they want.
In this case the threat could be explained as: "Give me a treat or I will
play a trick on you.” People often dress up as ghosts, witches, or other scary
things for Halloween.
It is said that on the night of All Hallow's Eve
the gap between the living and dead worlds are closer, and that dead souls come
back to earth. Then the souls would look for a living body to possess for the
next year. People, not wanting to be possessed would leave food and drinks
outside their doors to please the souls. Over time, beggars started taking and
begging for the food and then children started to take the food as well.
In our town, Sestao , we celebrate Halloween
too. The children take their costumes and go to the shops saying “Trick or
treat!” and take sweets. Years ago, in
Sestao doesn’t celebrate but, now Halloween is so popular because, children
have free sweets.

Legend says
that Valentine´s Day is celebrated in honour of a third century Roman priest
named Valentine. The Emperor at that time, Claudius II, banned marriages because he believed
that unmarried men made better soldiers. Valentine defied this law and
started to marry couples in secret. When the Emperor found out ,
Valentine was arrested and sentenced to death. While in prison, he fell in love
with the jailer´s daughter. Just before he was put to death, on 14th
February, he wrote a farewell message to her revealing his
feelings and signed it “From your Valentine”. Not long after his death, Valentine
was made a saint.
